Hurricane Irene is a large and dangerous storm and all storm track predictions indicted landfall will occur on the Outer Banks over this weekend. The Outer Banks is under a Hurricane Watch at this time and a mandatory evacuation order is in effect for all visitors as of Thursday morning (8/25/11). A state of emergency is also in effect for the area, and residents are being required to leave as of Friday morning.
Visitors to the Outer Banks should be finalizing their preparations for departure and plan on leaving the area during daylight hours today. It is unlawful for guests to stay in a rental property during the evacuation.
Guests that have arrivals scheduled for Friday, August 26, Saturday, August 27, or Sunday, August 28, 2011 should be aware that we will not be able to honor their normal check in time as long as a state of emergency and evacuation order is in place. Access to the Outer Banks will be blocked by the authorities and guests will not be permitted across the bridges to the Outer Banks.
